Organizations

Richmond Community High School (RCHS) students are given numerous opportunities to get involved, support the school, and participate in activities that will develop them into productive, well-rounded individuals. Some of the organizations to which Richmond Community’s students belong are presented in these tabs.

The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Chapter at Richmond Community High School recognizes and rewards students for excellence in a broad range of business and career-related areas. FBLA is the largest student organization in the school with over 50 percent of the student body participating in FBLA activities. Each year the RCHS Chapter organizes and participates in numerous events including national, regional and local competitive and leadership events; fundraisers; field trips, food drives, community service activities, and much more.

The Richmond Community High School Honor Council is a student-run body whose sole purpose is to educate the students, faculty, and staff about our school's expectations of academic integrity. The Honor Council will investigate and bring to trial any teacher-reported violations of our school's Honor Code. The Honor Council is comprised of teacher-nominated students who are then interviewed and selected by current Honor Council members.

The purpose of the National Honor Society is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students at Richmond Community High School. Richmond Community High School students who have a minimum weighted grade point average of 4.12 or higher meet the scholarship requirement for membership. These students are then eligible for consideration on the basis of service, leadership, and character.

NHS members at RCHS plan and implement a series of service projects during the school year. These projects include events such as the following: food drives, fundraisers, spirit events, holiday events, leadership programs, awards events, induction ceremony, and more.

The RCHS Student Ambassadors are a select group of current students dedicated to the promotion of Richmond Community High School and Richmond Public Schools. The Ambassadors play an essential role in explaining both what it is like to be a student at RCHS, and the benefit of attending a small public specialty high school. Our Ambassadors will have a variety of opportunities during the school year to represent Richmond Community High School.

Responsibilities of Student Ambassadors

• To positively represent the students and staff of RCHS
• To present information to prospective and newly enrolled students and their parents in a variety of settings
• To be an active and productive member by attending required Student Ambassador training, meetings, and events as needed
• To serve as a student representative of us at campus events.

Possible Duties

• Hosting Back-to-School Night Program (September)
• Presenting at Student/Parent Information Meetings at Middle Schools(October-December)
• Assisting with admission interviews and testing sessions (February)
• Serving as a student representative to the RPS School Board (as scheduled)
• Providing prospective student shadowing (March/April)
• Tutoring elementary students (October-May)
• Mentoring underclassmen (September – June)
