Visual Art

Richmond Community High School (RCHS) currently offers Art 1, Art 2, Art 3, and Art 4. This year, Art 3 & 4 are combined to offer an advanced course that is modeled after AP 2-D Art and Design. Students in Art 3/4 work to create portfolios based on their interests and a sustained investigation of those interests. Our art teacher, Mrs. Ford, maintains an online portfolio of student work, as well as her own.

Scholastic Art + Writing is the nation's longest running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens. Entries are selected for awards without knowledge of the student’s gender, age, ethnicity by some of the foremost leaders in the visual and literary arts.

Jurors look for works that exemplify the Awards’ core values: originality, skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision.

In the 2022/2023 school year, RCHS students took home more Scholastic Art awards than any other RPS school!
