Friends of RCHS

Friends of RCHS, 501c3 turns 10 years old

For the past 10 years, since the forming of Friends of Richmond Community High School, 501c3, we have worked diligently to provide tools, equipment, supplies, experience-based programming, college-readiness initiatives, and various upgrades that benefit the entire school: a mindfulness center, auditorium lighting and sound, media center, student labs, resources for teachers, scholarships, and community engagement programs for students.

A Nonprofit as Unique as RCHS

The nonprofit exists to support the unique programming at RCHS that has made it so successful the past 49 years. Friends of RCHS focuses on activities that help the school meet its strategic goals. Dedicated to preserving the school's commitment to experiential learning, Friends of RCHS helps to sponsor programs like freshman orientation, mini-mesters, field trips, RCHS community garden, and learning through service.

Just some of the things the nonprofit has funded at RCHS

  • Smart boards for all classrooms
  • Media Center makeover
  • Subsidies and financial assistance for mini-mester and field trips
  • Student initiated projectsClassroom grants for materials and equipment
  • Auditorium lights and sound
  • Mental Wellness / Mindfulness Spaces for teachers and students
  • Learning through service opportunities locally and abroad.
  • Science lab upgrades, equipment, and supplies
  • Educational software
  • Technology needs
  • Scholarships exclusively for RCHS seniors

Please view our activities report for 2024/2025.

All funds raised through donations and grants go to school programs

Funds raised for the school are distributed to programs that are unfunded or underfunded through the Richmond Public Schools budget. Administrative costs are provided for under a grant through the Jackson Foundation so 100% of funds raised go to support the school.
